Choose one Story Encounter from East Africa and one story anthology from East Africa and analyze them.

  Novel is  an extended  fiction  prose  narrative  of considerable  length  in which character, actions  representative  of real life  of  portrayed  in plot of more or less  completely,  example  of  novels .A  BEAUTIFULLY ONES  ARE  NOT  BORN,and

A MAN OF THE PEOPLE AND PASSED LIKE SHADOW

 Short story is the prose narrative which is shorter than  novel  ristricted in characterization  and  situation examples from Encounters from east Africa and anthology of east Africa the following and anthology of east Africa

 The following are differences between the novel and short story as follows 

 Shorts Story is limited in scope as they usually encompass a limited period of time because short stories consider one major item for stance in one short story of ‘encounter from  east Africa          ’which  man most live which explain  about struggle for life While novel is wide in scope ,novels are depicting in explain in our society ,for example items or event  occurring  in our society .For example the ‘A beautiful one are not yet born  by ’Ayi kwei.The writer explaining many events like corruption, poverty, irresponsibilitibility and betrayal.

Novel has many character due to this  novel contains many  characters which  enable writers to massages  in  the society .For example the novel ‘ A man  of the  people  ‘ by Chinua  Achebe there are  many  characters  like  chief  Nanga , Marigaret ,Odili ,Elice ,Maxwell,  Edina  and  chief  Koko.While short story have few characters  in which  one  character is the  main  character  .Example in  a story of  ‘Man Must Live’,Ezekiel Mphaleli from Encounters  of  east  Africa.  ,there  are few  character such  as  Khalima Zungu ,Mrs Masite  and  her  step  daughter and  sons.

  Novel is written in chapter. In   novel ,for instance   the   chapter facilitate  the writers  to expose many  things  like  corruption ,betrayal  poverty  and  marriage. While short story is not written in chapter whereby it written in pages.

  The  novel  is long  piece  of fiction  in which  novel cannot read  in single  setting  and  consume much time  to read .While  short stories  is short whereby  it  can be read  in single  setting  and  takes short time to read .

 Novels are plently rich in literary devices .In fact of the wide scope  of novel make  to have  many literacy device  like figures of speech are more  use  like  smile ,personification ,metaphor ,symbolism ,sarcasim ,satire and paradox.While  in short stories  not rich in  more literary  device  because  it is shorter which  make  the writter to employ few literary divices like shory story  of  ‘Man must live’ by  Mphalele  are few  literary  devices  such  as  simile ,personification  and symbolism.

 Generally although novel and short story  have differences  but also they have simiralities like those, are presenting  by using  language , both fall in the  same category of  prose  writing (narrative  writing  ) and  they share the same  main narrative  elements such as, plot character ,theme and conflict .
