An
expository essay is a genre of writing which tends to explain, illustrate or
clarify something in a way that it becomes clear for readers. Expository essay
also known as explanatory essay and its
purpose is to inform, describe or to explain important facts and it also used
to explain something such as a process, a term, thought and idea. An expository
essay contain a specific structure it explain a position or opinion that person
have regarding a topic or text, it provides adequate textual evidence to
support that opinion. An expository essay is not a summary since that it
involves opinion and ideas on event from the text. Expository essay is
different from other type of essay in the following ways; expository essay does
not tell a story, it does not persuade a reader but only gives facts and
reasons. And the expository essay includes the main idea and that explains what
the essay is about and it should have reasons supporting the ideas and examples
that determine the relevance of the essay. Expository essay can take explain a
variety of forms it may tell how to do or make something, it can also instruct
by giving information report on an experience. Clarify a process, define a
concept or explore on idea. And a well expository essay has a clear central
presentation of idea, definitions or examples that enhance readers
understanding.
Expository essay is categorized into several
types whereby each has a main purpose or an object to achieve. Expository essay is categorized as follows;
composition that explain a process, composition that shows comparison and
contrast, causes and effect essay, a composition that defines and
problem/solution essay. A writer chooses a composition that fits the needs of
the reader and that can be done by considering the purpose of each composition.
Process essay, writers use process essay to
explain the step or stages in process or procedure. This type of composition tells
how to do something or how something work. The writer’s goals or purpose is to
explain the process so that it may be easily done. And it involves specific and
direct way so as for it to be more understood. Process essay has
characteristics which determine a main purpose or stages of something, and
process essay the writer consider that the audience are unfamiliar with the
topic and thus, the writer needs to be more direct and brief to explain the
process clearly. It uses actual facts, details, and steps. And it is organized
in chronological order, and the paragraphs in the composition are well
organized so as to differentiate each step and to provide details on each
process explained in the composition. Therefore this kind of composition guides
a reader on how something can be done by following specific steps that guides
an action. For example a composition that directs steps of decision making
Composition that defines, this is the kind of
expository essay that defines a term, idea, thought and describes something or
some places or situation. It is a style of writing that focuses on describing a
character or an event in a great detail. The main purpose of is to define the
item so that it could not be mistaken for something else and also it introduces
the reader to an unfamiliar term m and it identify term with several details. For instance a
composition that tells the importance of a Coat of Arm in Tanzania. Usually it uses facts, statistics if any and
example for description. Therefore composition that defines provides general to
specific meaning of an object.
Composition which explains causes or effects,
it gives out reasons of existence of something or why something is happening. The
composition tries o find the root causes of things happening and phenomena with
the desire of understanding the truth lies beyond the occurrence of something
that includes its effects on something else. Mostly under this composition
discusses more about scientific discoveries or issues such as nature cause for
occurrence of earth quakes and how it affects the surroundings also the
composition can be used to explain
causes of diseases such as malaria and
HIV and how affects the individual and the society at large.
Composition that compares and contrast, a
comparison essay is used to show similarities or differences or both of two
existing sides. In this category a writer compares or contrasts two people
whether who are in different position such as prime minister and president,
places such as Ruvuma region and Mwanz region, and ideas. Also this kind of essay is
used to emphasize the differences or similarities or both. Words that are used
to compare are such as; also, alike, both and similar while words that are used
to contrast are; however, but, not and unlike. A comparison and contrast essay
must contain those words so as for a reader to understand whether the context
shows similarities or differences of something.
Generally, Expository essay is deal with to
explain and fact, it makes people aware about something also people or audience
learn something from the expository essay and can make practice about what they
hear or learn. .

HOW EXPOSITORY ESSAY IS DEVELOPED?
When
writing an expository essay, a writer present information in order to explain
something, but how does a writer explain an idea? Each types of expository
essay consist or contain its ways on how it is developed. It seek and explain ideas
and concepts when developing an expository essay a writer must have a great
reason and purpose on the type of expository essay that he or she wants to
write. An expository essay is developed through the following ways.
Pre-writing, is the first stage when writing
an expository essay where by a writer chooses a topic that will interest the
reader and what he or she is planning to write, and on this stage a writer
provide details that explain the various aspect of the topic choose. In the
pre-writing stage a writer focuses on identifying the main idea that needed
within the essay. And a writer considers the arrangement of thought that
carries intended message within the composition.
Writing a first draft, this is the beginning
of the arrangement of essay that was prepared within the pre-writing process.
First draft contains brief information about and it introduces the concept
clearly and
gives
some background information. And organizations
of the essay depends on the kind of essay that a writer plans to write,
this means that if it is a composition that explain a process it is paragraph
will be organized in a chronological order, and if is for explaining a problem
then it should start with the solution. In writing a first draft a writer also
considers the nature of the audience so as to make a suitable choice for the
language use and the purpose of an expository essay. And the draft should be kept
neat as possible.
Revising the written essay, after writing the
first draft revising is the next stage when the organization of ideas in the
first draft tends to be improved, and the improvement if any should be done by
correcting unnecessary ideas also can rewrite unclear ideas. And a writer
should focus on ideas that need to be changed. In revising also involves uses
of correct form of language, and for any mistake made in grammar should be in a
correct manner so as to make an essay which contains proper details and
meaning. And after editing the work, a writer should go through it again as to
proof read it and after all the correction it can be seen brief and neat

Tanzania
is the largest nation in East Africa with an estimated population of 55
millions of citizens. It is official language is Swahili though English is also
spoken. The first president was the late Mwalimu Julius Nyerere. Tanzanian
contain national symbols such as; coat of arm, national torch, national anthem.
The flag of Tanzania was adopted in December 1964; this was after Tanzania had
attained its independence from the British colonialism Tanzania flag is
originated from the flags of the former Tanganyika and Zanzibar. The two
countries merged in April 1964 to form current Tanzania. They adopted colors
from both national flags of Zanzibar and Tanganyika as the sign of respect and
equality .Tanzania flag is hoisted on all government and public buildings and
institutions across Tanzania. National flag of Tanzania has four color and each
have different meaning such as follows.
The
green color on the Tanzania flag symbolizes the natural resources and green
vegetation. It also symbolizes agriculture and fertility of the Tanzania land.
The green color also represents the forest cover of Tanzania. The green color
on the Tanzania national flag reminds Tanzanians on the importance and need to
practice agriculture and protect the forest cover, for the prosperity of the
land. Green also reminds people to maintain peace in the country.
Yellow
color on the Tanzania flag represents the natural mineral deposit found on the
land of Tanzania. It symbolizes the huge and rich minerals deposits that
Tanzania has, for example Tanzanite and Gold in Mwadui Shinyanga. Also the
yellow color reminds the people of Tanzania to make good economic use of the
rich mineral found in Tanzania for the well-being of the nation.
The
black color represents the black skin of the people of Tanzania It stands for
the patriotic Tanzania national. Black remind the people also that they are all
one and no one should divide them or intimidate them because of their skin color
The
blue color on the flag of Tanzania represent the many water bodies found in
Tanzania , such as; the lakes, rivers, and oceans. Blue encourage the people of
Tanzania to make proper use of the water bodies across the land.
Generally,
Tanzania national flag is a symbol of national unity and sovereignty. The
Tanzania flag is the sole property of the republic or state under the custody
of Tanzania government. The flag of Tanzania is very important because is
identification to other country or nation to know where are you coming from,
also symbolize the peace of a country thus why Tanzania is a peace country
