Being a head of school or principle of collage, examine critically why would or not adapt Taylor’s scientific management approach in your administration?

           Introduction
Meaning of scientific management

Scientific management is the theory of management that analyzes work flows. Its main objective is improving economic efficiency especially labor productivity. It was the one of the earliest attempt to apply science to the engineering of process and to management. Scientific Management Approach is one of the important approaches in the field of Administrative. (Rifat2017).

This Theory came in the wake of new industrial revolution that has taken place during the later part of the nineteenth century. This approach is an attempt to solve problems of complex organizations that have emerged as a result of industrial development. F W Taylor (1856-1915) is regarded as the father of scientific management and was one of the first management consultants. A pioneer of the modern management approaches and techniques, Taylor believed that the “best management is a true science,” applicable to all social activities, including, management of homes, farms, churches, philanthropic institutions, universities and Government departments.(Taylor, 1947).
As a head of school or principle I would apply Taylor’s scientific management in administration due to the following reason

Enhanceproduction;the scientific management theory is responsible for enhancing production as it concentrates on steady improvements in business operations. In educational context there is fruitful cooperation between headmaster (managers) and other teachers (subordinates) and hence enhanced team work is achieved. The harmonious relationship between the management and workers (teachers) assists is very important in making sure that the graduates are well equipped. (Thenmozhi, 2007)

Its ability to control,The best part of scientific management theorists is that the head of school are able to have good control teachers become specialists in their field as they do the same task repeatedly; for example if there is great failure in geography subject    as a headmasters will be easy to control this in order to increase efficiency and makes it easy for the head of school to have control over teachers. . (Thenmozhi, 2007)

Its ability todecreased autocracy, through good relation between teachers and head teachers, teachers will be distributed in various departments whichare: academic department, discipline department, health and environment, to gather with different subjectdepartment through distribution of this department will increase democratization and decrease autocracy in the school management.(Tyack 1974)

Efficiency increased, they follow early working method and control where a management methodology is developed for the purpose of training, selecting and supervising them in a close manner. Hence in educational context since teachers are well trained and selected them supervising them in the closely manners, as a head teacher will be very important to provide content to students hence increase the number of performance. . (Thenmozhi, 2007)

Increase accountability, as a head teachers Taylor’s scientific management is important since economic incentive is brought to one who performed. And teacher who performed better in their specialization this act will increase accountability andresponsibility to teacher hence increases the performance to the students. In other hand the students who performed better than other would be rewarded hence increase competition.(Thenmozhi, 2007)

The increase knowledge to the students, measurement of results is important for two reasons: (1) it affords administrators the opportunity of monitoring progress in the classroom, independently of teachers; and (2) it gave administrator’s publicly credible evidence of educational progress or dysfunction. (Tyack 1974)

Improve teaching methodology, Taylor’s in scientific management talked on the application of science to replace the old rule of thumb, hence as a head teacher the teaching will be improved because there will be the application of technology in the class room example the use of projector and computer this will increase efficiency in learning system whereby students will acquires intrinsic to study due to practical learning and visibility. (Tyack, 1974)

Conclusion

Therefore through Taylor’s scientific management approach its very useful in educational institute since educational administration borrowed different principles propounded by Taylors this principles is like the equal division of labor, recruitment based on skills economic incentive, the use of science to replace the old rule of thumb to gather with the  high pay for successfulcompilation.
