TASK: Europeans philosophers deny that Africans are not philosophers. Justify this claim.
Philosophy
is the study of general and fundamental problems such as these connected with
reality existence, knowledge, value, reason, mind and language. Philosophy is
distinguished from other ways of addressing such problems by its critical,
generally systematic approach and its reliance on rational argument. The world
philosophy comes from the Ancient Greek “Philosophia” which literally means
Love of Wisdom (Beertrand 1912)
Philosopher
is a person who seeks for wisdom or enlightenment or a person whose
philosophical perspective makes meeting trouble with equanimity easier. A word
philosopher came from middle English philosophe, philosopher from Angola –
French, from Latin philosophus, from Greek philosophos, from phil Sophia
Wisdom, from Jopho wise. Also there are African philosophers such as Julius
Nyerere from Tanzania, john langalibalele Dube from south Africa, David
Benatair and John Mc Dowell from Tunisia, Taha Abdurrahiman and Alain Badioub
from morocco and obatemi, John Olubi Sadipo,
European
philosophers are those people lived in Europe and they involved in
philosophical matters such examples of philosophers like Plato, Aristotle, Socrates,
Baruch Spinoza, John Locke, George Berkeley, David Hume, Immanuel Kantu and
Gottfied wilhelm Leibniz.
African
philosophers are those philosophers found in Africans and they engaged in
philosophical matters such as Kwame Mkurumah, Julius k Nyerere, Campell Momoh
and John mbiti. European philosophers deny that Africans are not philosophers,
this statement is not true due to the presence of different philosophers in
Africa which is as follows;
KWAME
NKRUMAH
Kwame
Nkrumah was the philosopher and president of Ghana. He argues the “Liberation
and Africa Diaspora”.

is the situation of making someone to be free. This idea was adopted by Kwame
that was aimed at making people of Ghana free from foreign domination and not
only Ghana but also for all African countries.
Unity,
emphasis much of unity in African countries that all liberated African
countries must from unity. Also these ideas supported much by Mwalimu Julius K.
Nyerere, he wanted to make African countries unity together in order to make
economic superior and strong, and arm military force so as other African
countries to be attacked from foreign power .
MWALIMU

people free way to freedom.
KWASI
WIREDU
Kwasi
Wiredu, is a professional philosopher a professor of philosophy. There are of
course several other professional philosophers in departments of philosophy all
over Africa professor Wiredu observes that contemporary Africa philosophers
devote a lot of time on the questions of Africa philosophy which is distinct
from doing Africa philosophy. He believes it is necessary at this stage to go
beyond talking about Africa philosophy and get down to actually doing it.
Professor
Wiredu accordingly gets down to work and advances two philosophical theses,
first truth is nothing but opinion and, second that to be is to be known.
Generally,
according to this statement of European philosophers that in Africa no
philosophers are not true in facts that in Africa there had have philosophers,
in facts that the Africans had their philosopher who contribute in different
activities for their nations and World at large.
