Work is the job that a person does especially in order to
earn money or it an activity involving mental or physical effort done in order
to achieve a purpose or result. According to Hornby, (2010)
Work is an activities involving mental or physical effort
done in order to achieve a purpose or result. According to Laplace, (1951)
Therefore; work refers to the use of physical strengths or
mental skills in making things or producing services
1.1 SKILLS
Education and experience may make you eligible to apply for
a job but, to be successful in most roles, you will need skills that you are
likely to develop over time. Some will be specific to the job, but the vast
majority will be so-called ‘soft skills’ that can be used in any job or
employment sectors. These soft skills are employability skills, they are what
makes you employable. According to Forbes,(2015)
specific skills required, such as how to operate particular
pieces of machinery, or use particular computer packages that are very specific
to that role or company. However, they usually want to see that you already
have the other ‘soft skills’ before hiring, because they are much harder to
teach. And skill will determine your personal strengths and weakness
1.2 INTERESTS
People like to be recognized and valued for what they
contribute to the workplace. Whether it
involves incorporating personal interests or expanding the perimeters of their
job descriptions, people generally enjoy the opportunity to personalize the job
in a way that enhances their work performance. According to Forbes,(2015)
We all have the capability to do more than we think we can. But
sometimes we need someone, or something, to be the catalyst to make it happen.
We also need to be open to exploiting our natural abilities to the full.
1.3 STYLE
work environment you prefer, how well you will fit in at the
company and with the company culture. It also helps to identify your most
productive work environment.
wether your more comfortable in a traditional, more formal
work environment or in a more casual office structure wether you like a
team-based approach, or do you prefer doing your own thing. Avoid being dishonest,
though. If there are certain environments that you absolutely cannot work in, do
not say that you can handle them. But on identifting or choosing working
environment try to stay relatively neutral, it is a good idea to maintain that
you are flexible and adapt happily in any environment.
1.4 VALUES
Your work values are the subset of your beliefs and ideas
that are related to your occupation or job. These core principles are an
important part of who you are. They include things like honesty, service,
self-respect, respect for others, peace, and success. Therefore, you must
identify what work values you cherish the most before you choose a career or
decide whether to accept a job offer. Accordung to Dawn Rosenberg Mckay, (2018)
2.0 Work would make you satisfied only if you perfome the
following things.
2.1 You need to feel accomplished.
According to the survey, a sense of accomplishment is the
strongest driver of happiness for employees under 35 years old.“Employees want
to feel like they’re having an impact on the company, which means they need to
see the results of their work.
If you want that sense of accomplishment, set benchmarks for
yourself and focus on making progress toward small goals,
2.2 work that
benefits other people
it is better to give than
to receive. And nowhere does this statement ring more true than when it comes to
work satisfaction. There is a growing body of evidence that shows helping others
is a key ingredient for life satisfaction. People who volunteer are less depressed
and healthier. A randomized study showed that performing a random act of kindness
makes the giver happier than when receiving something, one of the most common statements
around job satisfaction was helping others. Hardy, (2013)
2.3 You need positive reinforcement
Feeling appreciated is the second-biggest driver of satisfying
for workers, the survey found. “People want to feel like they are putting out
great work, recognition, of course, can come in many forms from a simple thank-you email to a promotion or
salary bump. Find it in your current job: If you’re not receiving positive
reinforcement from your own boss, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re
underperforming. He or she just might not be great at communication. You might
just need to actively solicit feedback from your manager. (Ibd)
2.4 You need to like
your co-workers.
Employees who have good relationships with their co-workers
are likely to be happy on the job than those who don’t get along well with
their peers, Who you work for (and with) can be just as important as the work you
do. And while you don’t have to be friends with your coworkers, it is important
to know that you can get help from your colleagues when you run into problems.
though your coworkers can be either sources of help or stress
in the workplace. And feeling that you have a genuine connection and can ask for
help when you need it will make your working hours feel more satisfying. We all
want to feel good about the work we do. But it isn’t always easy. Job satisfaction
is deeply personal and difficult to quantify.
“Relationships are one of the best predictors of happiness
in any field,” says Christine Carter, author of The Sweet Spot: How to Find
Your Groove at Home and Work.
2.5 You need some level of autonomy.
The happiness survey also found that a sense of empowerment meaning,
employees can make some decisions on their own improves work happiness. You
need to feel like you’re steering your own ship. Also, don’t be afraid to ask
for more responsibility and oversight. Your boss may not realize that you are
ready to take on something bigger.According to Internet of Encyclopedia and Philosophy

2.6 You need to be part of something that makes you proud
Employees who are proud of their organizations are likely to be happy at work . This goes beyond
pride in your actual output, but pride in your company and what it stands for which
makes sense, given that “cultural fit” is a top priority for millennial
job-seekers,
2.7 A lack of major negatives
While most of the things were looking at are requirements for
job satisfaction, what’s missing from your work is just as important,Some of the
biggest sources of work dissatisfaction include: A long commute, Long or unpredictable
working hours, Feeling unrecognized (through pay or praise), Feeling like you’re
in danger (either physically or with job insecurity). Any of these qualities can
quickly turn an otherwise satisfying job into a nightmare.
3.0 CONCLUSSION
There are countless benefits to finding a work that makes
you satisfied, not the least of which is not having to suffer your work is so much
more than a paycheck; it is a place you go to improve your skill set, It is hard
to feel satisfied by your work if it is constantly a struggle. Yet while being skilled
at your job helps you feel more valued, its greater quality is in allowing you to
negotiate for other things that bring you life satisfaction. This could mean more
flexible working hours to spend time with family, working on more meaningful and
challenging also the values, moral and ethical principal should be regarded when
you are doing the particupar work for the sake of peace and harmony in the
society.
