Introduction to inclusion in education.

Introduction to inclusion in education.
Inclusion in education: refers to the process of including everyone,  (non-disabled and and disabled) in general education. This means that, those with special education need learning together in main stream schools, colleges and universities.
According to UNESCO, (2001). Inclusion is the process to address and to respond the diversity of needs of all learners through increasing participation in learning cultures and communities, and reducing exclusion from Education and from within education. The goal is that, the whole education system facilitate learning environments where teachers and learners embrace and welcome the challenges and benefits of diversity.

Why inclusion in education?
Over the years, the benefits of inclusion has been shown. Therefore inclusion is important especially if practiced well, because;
Inclusion develop teachers'  creativity:  As schools made place for all children to participate, teachers will find ways on how to teach so that all children can be involved. Hence improve creativity.
Inclusion is there to avoid discrimination or biasness: inclusion states that, general education is not just for some children, (non-disabled)  rather it is for all children. Hence advance the spirit of equality to avoid discrimination.
Inclusion offers proper education for individual needs:  This is  because, all children receive a curriculum relevant to their needs different from special education where curriculum is set in accordance to disability category.
Inclusion increase motivation to learners:  Especially disabled students will be inspired by gifted students in the  learning arena. Rather than placing them in special education basing on their eligibility category.
Inclusion promotes the culture of respect and belonging. As it gives a room to learn about individuals differences and accept them. Thus disabled children will be respected  by other peers.
Inclusion promotes cooperation and collaboration for all children: This is because, all children are included in general education therefore, non- disabled majority will cooperate full with disabled minority among home, among school and among community.
Generally, inclusion becomes a significant foundation for creating stable community with love, wisdom, respect and equality for every individual regardless of their  individual differences. This means all people are taken into the same weight in the community.
