The following are the strengths of the book on guidance and counselling written by
Guidance can be defined as an integrated organized and
creative process which is useful and applicable to all spheres of life. The
process aimed at ensuring the all round development of the recipient so that
they can solve their problem themselves. It aids the process of self discovery
in the recipients and help them to develop their own personality, point of view
and a unique way of handling problems means it is an assistance provided by a
professional counselor is an organized, scientific and professional activities
(KNRA, A.K,2008).
Counseling is the skilled and principled use of relationship
which develops self knowledge, emotional acceptance growth and personal resources.
The overall aim of counseling is to make life more satisfying. Counseling may
be more concerned with addressing and resolving specific problems making
decisions, coping with crises, working through feelings and inner conflict or
improving relationship with other.(MUTIE&NDAMBUKI,2012).
Guidance should not be
equated with providing directives to an individual. It does not mean thrusting
of some body's view on other or someone taking decisions for othe.Also guidance
is an assistance provided by a competent counselor to an individual of any age
to help him direct his life, develop his own point of view, make his own
decisions and Carry his own burdens and the main objectives of guidance is to
assist each youngster in such away can recognize his capacity and strength and
after building on them can integrate into his life value and aims to ultimately
enable him to steer his own path (JOHN ET,ALL,2012).

The book explain study of an individual and its evaluation
inorder to carry out the guidance program be successfully.This gives the
guidance expert a clear picture of the student's achievement and progress at a
glance.This help the expert to use property selected and recognized
test(KNRA,A.K.2008).
The book shows that
guidance is for the total development of personality that means guidance should
be related to a student's all round development.At time a student's does not
know as to what his abilities are and what he or she wants to be come through
guidance it help him or her in discovering his personality develop to meet the
needs of life(KNRA,A.K,2008).
The book also shows
that guidance must be a cooperative effort that means a guidance expert has to
perform various test to arrive at a solution for individual problem.But the
expert have to rely on the availability of information from teachers
proffessors, parent and administration (KNRA,A.K,2008).
The book also show
that guidance is giving importance to an individual differences,it is
universally admitted that not two or individuals are like and even in twins
there is differences that means the individual variations are both hereditary
and environmental in nature(KNRA,A.K.2008).
The book explains
guidance is a life long process,it explains that guidance is a continuous it
need can arise in different situations of an individual's life with increase in
the pace of development, complexities in an individual's life are also
increasing (KNRA,A.K.2008).
Also the book
explain the guidance and counseling promotes self reliance and inspires self
development this means the aim of guidance and counselling as such is the
development of an individual self realization, self-reliance and self
development,to achieve this a guide should assist a youngster in understanding
is behavior and facilitaring improvement in it.(KNRA,A.K.2008).
The book shows that
guidance and counselling should be impacted by trained personnel can do
guidance and counselling, every one cannot offer professional and practical
elements.The training also include knowledge of different aspects of
psychology, psychological test guidance and counselling techniques as well as
peculiar nature of guidance and counselling (KNRA,AK.2008).
The following are
the weaknesses of the book on guidance and counselling written by
KNRA,A.K.2008) There are;
The author of this
book does not explain to us the environment for counseling and guidance but
tell us the guidance and counselling should be provided by professional but not
indicate to us in which environment that can be carried on.
The author of this book does not explain
to us some major areas of guidance such as health,moral, avocation and marital
relationships.
The book also does not tell us the skills on
guidance as well as some major important areas on the counseling such as types
of counseling, difference theories, principles and views of counseling.
Conclude that the book of guidance and counseling
are important to us since it provides us various important knowledge and skills
on how guidance and counseling should be given high priority in various
discipline to solve different issue that can enable the people to be aware and
attention in combat various problem
