A computer network is a set of computers connecters connected together for the purpose of sharing resources. The most common resource shared to day is connection to the internet. Other shared resources can include a printer or a file server.

Type of computer networks; 

LAN  is a computer network which spans over a small geographical area such as home, building, office, etc.In LAN computers are placed relatively close, since computers are located within small distance, they do not need special devices and cables to connected with each other.

PAN same as LAN network, but it is limited to a specific person or location such as home network.This network is usually setup for sharing resources such as internet and printer within personal computers.

Work ground network. In this network, all computers are equal. Any computer can provide and access shared resources. This type of network is usually used in small office or home network. It is easy to setup and does not require any special hardware and software. The downside of this network is that it provides very less security.

When computers are connected when computer connect to each other on the same network, it is called a local area network, when multiple networks are connected to each other, it is called a wide area network. With this type of network, your home has a network router that connects your ISP.

The internet is not synonymous with world wide web.The internet is a massive network of networks,a networkinginfrastructure. It connects millions of computers to gether globally, forming a network in which any computer can communicate with any other computer as long as they are both connected to the internet.

Email A system for sending messages from one individual to another via telecommunications links between computers using dedicated software:communication by email is almost instantaneous. A message sent by email:send me an email about that idea,and I'll get back to you.
