TANU membership
ARUSHA DECLARATION
Arusha declaration was a social, political and
economic ideology of TANU which was implemented by President Julius Nyerere on February
1967 with the aim of introducing the policy of self reliance and the policy of socialism
in Tanzania. Arusha declaration is divided into five parts where by each played
a role in implementing the goals of Arusha declaration as intended by Mwalimu
Nyerere.
TANU creed.
In this part, TANU generalized the aim of TANU of
maintaining independence and freedom within the country by ensuring that all
individual acquires equal rights and nobody is violated his or her rights and
that the state is governed democratically and gets equal opportunity within the
country. Also to see that the natural resources are well governed by the state
and each individual engages fully in exploitation
of resources for the development of all individual.
The policy of socialism.
The TANU desire was to introduce a socialist state
where by individuals shares equal opportunities that are found within the
state. Where it ensured the absence of exploitation by abolishing the existence
of classes. And by building a socialist state the state had to be a democratic
state and the major means of production should be under the control of peasants
and workers.
Policy of self-reliance.
The policy if self reliance was for ensuring the
development of the state through the hard work of the people and due to this
much emphasise was put in agriculture where it is the root of development.
According to the policy, Land as a natural resources can be used to bring
development when it is well used. And much emphasise was to be put to peasants
so as to make them to produce more for the development all people. Also it emphasized
that a state should not depend on aids and funds since that they great a debt
burden within the state.
TANU membership.
Since that the belief was implemented, TANU had to
have more members who intend in following the principles of TANU in accomplishing
the goals of the party of establishing a socialist state and in this party TANU
needed members so as for it to be implemented practically more than the
ideological view that TANU had.
The Arusha Resolution
The meeting agreed on things which could help in
establishing the socialist state where by in its view based on the leadership
and the government and the members of TANU whereby in the leadership it emphasize
leaders to cooperate with people and it denied leaders to obtain more powers
and resources. The government was emphasized on building a democratic state
also it calls upon a government to put good condition for workers and peasants
since that through them development is attained.
